We held our first event on the 2nd of March 2025, in Penrith and welcomed athletes and their teams from across the UK, with strong presence and support from local Cumbrian clubs such as Lake District BJJ Academy, Radgie Rollers, HFA, Tap out knock out, West Cumbria BJJ and Can Do Martial Arts. We were also delighted to see many clubs from Scotland come down to compete and see a strong mix of northen clubs from England too.

The day started at 10am and ran smoothly over 3 mats, that were managed and well run by 3rd degree Roger Gracie black belt Kev Capel and his team of referees.

Flexibility through smoothcomp software and on site management by the Takedown Grappling team meant that all areas kept moving and the competition even managed to run ahead of time.

The enthusiasm and passion of the athletes on the day was palpable and clear to see in their efforts to best their opponents. Although 100% was given on the tatami, and no quarter offered or asked for, there was great camaraderie off the competition area among clubs, and the vibe in the arena was both positive and electric.

Our unique custom medals put a smile on the faces of those who were lucky enough to make the podium, a place where all that hard work and effort in the training room pays off.

We were very proud of how everyone conducted themselves on the day, and how the TDG team pulled together to make their first event a huge success, receiving praise from many coaches and athletes about both the quality and efficiency of the event.
